After documenting him for a few days there, Hoepker persuaded his editor that the story was bigger and followed Ali to Chicago, where this iconic image of his world-famous fist was taken. Over the course of a decade, Hoepker was given the opportunity to photograph Ali multiple times, allowing him to capture the man as well as the myth.
